Kunal Sharma : The prodigy of a rarity.
Kunal Sharma is a 23 year old multitalent personality who is a singer, rapper, producer, director, composer and lyricist all at the same time. How cool would that be?
It would seem cool at one glance. But it was never as easy as it looks. The fame didn’t come overnight. He worked his way throughout to attain the kind of recognition that he is prone to now. He is from Jammu and Kashmir and has been showing and utilising his potential to the maximum right from his childhood days at Jammu. He was pretty well known in his native for the talent that he had within him.
He never used to seriously consider his passion for music in the earlier days of his life, as he considered himself the built for sports and was particularly good at basketball. It was at the age of 14 that he did a music performance at the school that swept every audience off their feet. They were a quite amused by the hidden talent that he had up his sleeve, which suddenly came out of nowhere. It was from then that he realised that his way to achievement is music and that he shouldn’t be putting to waste something that god has gifted him with.
At the age of 14, he began his official music career with the release of his first single, “Girlfriend” in collaboration with local artist. It was after the release of his song “Dil nu Ruvaya” that he got the recognition that he had always wanted for himself. It was released in 2015 and had gone viral all over the music platforms and. had become an instant hit. He had collaborated with the “Punjaab records” for the song and as of now has got over 5 million views for it and is still being added up.
Never did once, his success and fame try to overpower the passion and determination in him. Although he was well known among the youngsters and had quite a fan following, he practices everyday to improve upon his skills and add some certain specifications to his voice modulations. He is a person who is not much into digitalising or autotuning his voice. He still goes for the traditional raw voice, that most of the musicians this age seems to avoid. Although, he adds improvisations to the song, he tries to avoid complete digitalisation of his voice as he thinks it takes away the life and soul of the song.
He also owns a production company under his father’s name called “Ravi Sharma productions” It was through his father that he was introduced into the world of music and he had been his support system ever since the unending talent had been appreciated by a lot of people.
He then went to Canada, and over the years he has been indulging himself in direction, composing, writing and all the stuff. His talent does not just stop at music composing and singing abilities. He has also taken his creative ability to a whole new level by directing some truly amazing short films like “The Horror Dreams.” He has also directed international music videos like. “Love Affair” by Whitney Rose.
He has been trying his luck at filmmaking in Canada and has been progressing at every step of learning filmmaking and is yet to hit the big screens with a spectacular movie soon enough. He has also directed a couple of Ad films and would be soon seen working with a bunch of international artists.
There’s a saying that, “ Our choices show what we truly are, far more than our abilities”. Even though with his amazing talent at music and filmmaking and various other fields of expertise, his choices and the ability to take risks knowing the kind of financial insecurities associated with the choice that he has to make, is what makes him stand out altogether. It was never easy for him to just stand and take a chance. He knew and believed in the talent he possessed and was confident enough to move forward with it. He took the risk and strives forward to reach where he is now. Kudos to his passion and belief in himself. A large applause to a future filmmaker.
